Still Time To Fish For Chinook In Marine Areas 9 & 10

As of Sunday July 31 we still had 265 Chinook to catch out of our quota of 3,056 in Marine Area 9. In Marine Area 10 there was still 956 Chinook to harvest out of quota of 1,395. This still gives anglers at least a few more days to fish in Area 9 before we reach our guideline and perhaps a week or more in Area 10. Overall, fishing has been just fair at best for most we have spoken with, though there has been a few that have had a good season.

This week is generally the peak of the Chinook returns here in our section of Puget Sound and perhaps we will see a marked increase in the numbers of fish being landed.

Make sure to keep a look at the WDFW website for a closure notice as I am sure anglers will not get much of a notice on the closing. I'll be sure to post it here on our website as soon as we hear anything.
