Shrimping Reports For Saturday May 2nd

This first day of shrimping here in our section of Puget Sound was quite good for everyone that I spoke with. I spoke with lots of folks that had limits of Spot Shrimp (80) that fished the Edmonds / Brown Bay area. The effort was huge, with very crowded conditions and lots of gear in the water. Many folks had to deal with gear tangled with other shrimpers making for a few flaired tempers. One boat powering through gear became entangled with a number of lines which combined with the speed sucked the transom down causing it to take on water and quickly turned over and turtled. Both individuals were wearing life jackets and were quickly retrived from the water. Their boat towed into the Port of Edmonds by WDFW.

Please make sure if you are using poly (floating line) that you weight it properly to keep it from flaoting on the surface and out of props and lower units.

Overall, this first day of shrimping was good with lots of limits and good weather.
