Skykomish River Steelhead Report

As is normaly the rule on the opening of Skykomish River the Reiter Ponds section of the Skykomish was packed with angler hoping to catch the first of the summer run steelead. The fishing was extremely good this morning with countless numbers of steelhead being caught. Ryan Cristensen from the shop was up this AM with his Dad with both of them catching their limit in very short order. Ryan's Dad managed to land two on his first two casts and Ryan had his shortly thereafter. All their fish came on RVRFSHR spoons in silver and 50/50 finishes. The river was running about 8 feet with 3 feet or so of visability. The river was droping slightly during the morning.

Hopefully this is the start of a good summerrun season.

We have not heard anything as to how the guys fishing Chinook below the mouth of the Wallace faired so far this morning but as of this past Thursday there were about 30 Chinnok already at the Wallace Hatchery. To have that sort of number so early in the season might aslo be a good indicator as to what the Chinook season will bring.

We'll post more as we get more reports in over the next few days.
