Lake Chelan Fishing Report For April 21, 2014 - Anton Jones Of Darrell & Dad's Family Guide Service

LAKE CHELAN AREA FISHING REPORT FOR 4/21/14

What is continuing hot is trolling in the early morning above the Yacht Club and along the face of Manson Bay on Lake Chelan for nice numbers of Lakers.  Spring plants of rainbows have gone in at both Lake Chelan and Roses Lake making for some nice fishing.

On Chelan, fish Colyar Ledge above the Yacht Club from the 230 foot contour out to 310 foot contour for best success early in the morning.  Also trolling the face of Manson Bay in depths of 180 to 265 feet has worked.  In both locations fish speeds of 1 to 1.3 mph as close to the bottom as you can.  Silver Horde’s Needlefish Squiddy’s rigged with a Mack’s Lures smile blade in Glow and baited with a triangle of Northern Pikeminnow has been the “go to” presentation.

Fishing from the bank and docks on Lake Chelan and Roses Lake with slip sinker rigs should be very good for at least a few weeks.  Fish Pautzke’s Fire Bait in American Wildfire on a 30” leader to get these mostly 11 to 14 inch fish.

Your fishing tip of the week is to keep good presentations in front of those Kokanee.  The Kokanee bite has been spotty.  If you find a school that you get bit in, you really need to turn quickly and go right back through there with your entire spread at the depth you got bit at.  These “bites” may last only a few minutes or 20 minutes at the most.  If you miss that opportunity, you too can be one those people that fish all day for one little Kokanee.

The kid’s tip of the week is to get them out of doors to observe all the natural acts that are happening all around us.  The Osprey hunting fish for their young at Roses Lake, The Lesser Scaup’s swimming underwater to scavenge fish carcasses at Mill Bay and the Mallard drakes competing for breeding rights.  Those Scaup’s swimming underwater in a crystal clear lake is cooler than anything you could see on Discovery Channel.

Your safety tip of the week is to check you fire extinguishers to make sure they are in the green.  Then pray that you will never need them.
