Marine Area 9 Opens For Salmon Fishing January 16, 2015

Most area blackmouth fishermen have been awaiting the reopening of Marine Area 9 and the popular Possession Bar, Point No Point and Mid Channel Bank. This area holds some of the most productive blackmouth fishing in all of Puget Sound. Though opening tomorrow it looks as if we have some weather coming in for the next few days which will keep all but the most determined fishermen on the beach. Those that do manage to make it out will undoubtedly get beat up!

This area should see some fair fishing as the November fishery yeilded not only some good fishing but also yeilded some very niced sized fish. In November we saw a good number of fish from ten pounds into the middle teens. There is no reason that we shound not see the same sized fish in this opener.

Remember, its a two fish limit, on Chinook its a 22 inch minimum size restriction and marked hatchery fish only on other species there is no size restriction and can be wild or hatchery. The only other species you should incounter should be coho only and they should be 12 -15 inch in size.

Good luck out there!
